  The programme is under the political leadership of Hon. Rebecca Amuge Otengo, Minister of State for Northern Uganda. Following the resolution of the conflict that faced the region there is renewed impetus for growth, an initiative lead by the OPM programme for Northern Uganda. 

As part of the overall project to develop the region, a number of specific initiatives have been implemented including:

  • Peace and Recovery Development Plan (PRDP)
  • Northern Uganda Social Action Fund II (NUSAF II)

Achievements for the Financial Year 2011/12

Northern Uganda

(i) 54 Acholi Traditional leaders houses fitted with additional facilities like pit latrines, water havesting tanks and handed over to the beneficiaries

(ii) Procured 25 hydraform machines meant for Northern Uganda PRDP districts .

(iii) Procured 2 tractors meant for Northern Uganda

(iv) Training for 11 local governments conducted in the districts of Arua, Yumbe, Nebbi ,Zombo, Gulu, Agago, Lira, Soroti,

Katakwi and Nakapiripirit.

(v) Tractor hire scheme in Northern Uganda up scaled in the districts of Oyam. Adjumani and Amuru.

(vi) 150 tonnes of improved seeds and 2000 bags of cassava cuttings for Northern Uganda Procured.

(vii) Constructions of 71 Teachers and Health Workers houses in new districts (Otuke, Lamwo and Zombo) piloted with hydraform technology.

(viii)20,000 Iron Sheets meant for all the 55 PRDP districts procured.

(ix) 1,200 Ox ploughs meant for Lango and Acholi Sub Regions Procured.

(x )5 PRDP monitoring visits conducted in all the 55 PRDP districts and 9 municipalities and reports produced.

(xi) Renovation work on the OPM regional offices in Gulu started.

(xii)2 PMC meetings; 12 PRDP TWG meetings, 5 Regional coordination meetings held with MDAs, Local Governments and Development partners in relation to PRDP implementation. 1 girls and 1 boys dormitory for the NUYDC constructed using hydroform technology.
