A book titled: Major reasons why Ugandans support President Museveni and the NRM Party, has been launched by the Rt. Hon. Amama Mbabazi, the Prime Minister of Uganda and Secretary General of National Resistance Movement.

The book authored by Mr. Natamba Njoki Jackson, was launched at a ceremony which took place at Kati Kati Restaurant in Kampala. He has already authored three books highlighting the NRM achievements to date.

In the latest Global Competitiveness Report by the World Economic Forum, Uganda is ranked 121^st out of 142 economies. It states that Uganda has a number of strengths to build on such as the flexibility and efficiency of its labour market, a reasonably well developed financial market, as well as its openness to foreign investment. 

However, the Report further states that Uganda demonstrates weaknesses in some areas which require attention to move the country to a higher competitiveness level. A national workshop on competitiveness in Africa was therefore organized to discuss the best way forward for improving Uganda’s competitiveness. The workshop which took place at Kampala Serena Hotel brought together leaders from the business sector, policy makers and the development experts.

The National Citizen and Immigration Board in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, has so far produced and handed over 400 National Identity Cards to Ugandans. The latest recipient was the Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi who received his card from the Board chairman Ambassador Wanume Kibedi at a ceremony which took place at the Office of the Prime Minister. 

Jubilations and merrymaking filled the air in Kinkizi West constituency, Kanungu district in Western Uganda on Saturday, June 18, 2011 as residents received and congratulated their rebranded area Member of Parliament, Amama Mbabazi on being appointed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Uganda.

The Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has reiterated the commitment of the National Resistance Movement Government in the fight against corruption and the special focus on service delivery in the next five years.

The Church has taken patriotism to another level, characterized by raising the national flag and singing the national anthem, accompanied by the brass band during Sunday services.

This was evidenced during the Lay-Canons’ Thanksgiving Service at St Peter’s Cathedral in the Diocese of Kinkizi on Sunday, June 26, 2011. The area Bishop, Rt Rev. Dan Zoreka presided over the service.

On Thursday, 19^th May 2011 the first meeting of the first session of the 9^th Parliament sat to elect the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament.  The Prime Minister and Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Rt Hon. Amama Mbabazi moved a motion for Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga to assume the Office of the Speaker of the 9^th Parliament

The Prime Minister, Mr Amama Mbabazi on Friday, June 17, 2011 received the Belgian Ambassador to Uganda, Marc Gedopt who called on him at his office in Kampala.

The Rt Hon. Premier and H. E the Ambassador discussed ways of strengthening the bilateral partnership between Uganda and Belgium. Uganda is one of the 18 Belgian Bilateral partner countries.

Battle lines have been drawn after the National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaigns in the bye-elections for the Entebbe Municipality parliamentary seat being formally launched.

The meeting that was also attended by the Goodwill Ambassador for Investment and Trade to Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, Dr Rashid Yahya Semuddu, took place in the Prime Minister’s Boardroom.  

The Paramount Chief of Acholi Rwot David Onen Achana II has refuted allegations that the Acholi elders were not happy with the houses constructed for them under the Peace, Recovery and Development Plan for northern Uganda (PRDP).

Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has asked the Japanese government to provide specific training in investigative skills to Ugandans to combat corruption in the country.

Mbabazi made the request while receiving the Japanese Ambassador to Uganda, Kazuo Minagawa who called on him at his Office in Kampala. 

The Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has said Government has embarked on a programme to link all Government health facilities in the country to the National Medical Stores through a computerized system.

He said Mulago National Referral Hospital was already linked to ensure efficient supply of drugs. Mbabazi was receiving the Senior International Business Machines (IBM) Vice President, Rodney Adkins who called on him at his Office on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

The Government is fully committed to improving the remuneration of teachers but is addressing it holistically to include traditional civil and other public servants over the medium term. 

Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi convened a meeting of district leaders Saturday, September 03, 2011 to brief them on the way forward at Kampala Serena Hotel.  

The Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has said Government is considering revising the criteria for district quotas in university sponsorship as one of the measures to reduce on the craze for new districts.

Mbabazi, as Member of Parliament for Kinkizi West Constituency, was meeting members of the Constituency Council on Monday, September 29, 2011.  He is the Chairman of the Council and the meeting was held in Kihihi Town Council. 

The European Union (EU) has boosted the Private Equity Fund with US$50m (about UShs 140b) to support medium agribusiness and agro-forestry enterprises in Uganda.  The money will also assist in providing skills for small enterprises management to the beneficiaries.

The EU Head of Delegation, Roberto Ridolfi announced the grant when he met Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi at the Prime minister’s office in Kampala on Thursday, August 18, 2011. He said he had already briefed the Ministry of Finance and that of Agriculture on the availability of the money.

Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has told the people of Rukungiri that the country’s growth lies in stability of families.  He said if families are unstable families, mother Uganda risks being derailed from her development goals.

The Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi has received a special message from his Egyptian counterpart, Essam Sharaf.  The Egyptian Ambassador to Uganda, Sabry Magdy Sabry delivered the message at Mbabazi’s office on Friday, August 11, 2011.

Mbabazi assured the Ambassador that Uganda strongly values the relationship that exists between the two countries.  He hailed Egypt’s role in African liberation struggles, adding that Uganda played a key part in ensuring that Egypt joins the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA). 

The Prime Minister, Amama Mbabazi on Thursday, July 28, 2011 inspected the office block for the Office of the President and that of the Prime Minister.

Construction of the twin-tower which is nearing completion at Plots 9-11 Apollo Kaggwa Road in Kampala was funded with a US$35m (about UShs 98b) grant from the Chinese Government. 

The Rt Hon. Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi has assured the British government that Uganda is fully committed to fighting corruption and has established all the necessary institutional and legal frameworks to fight the vice.

The Premier made the remarks on Friday, September 9, 2011 while receiving Hon. Andrew Mitchell, the United Kingdom Secretary of State for International Development at his Office on Postel Building in Kampala.
